Marble Cheesecake Recipe

By Alexis Moore

With the holiday season being so different this year it is important to hold on to tradition for a sense of normalcy. Every year my grandmother and I make marble cheesecake for our Christmas dinner.

The ingredients in our recipe consist of:

  • ¾ cup all- purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • A dash of salt

  • ¼ margarine butter

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 3 packages of cream cheese

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

  • 6 eggs

  • 1 cup of sour cream

To make our cheesecake:

Crust:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

  • In a bowl mix ¾ cup of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a dash of salt

  • Mix in butter until it becomes crumb like

  • Mix in two tablespoons of the melted chocolate

  • Press mixture into bottom of pan as the crust

  • Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown, then remove from oven

  • Change oven heat to 325’

Cheesecake mixture:

  • Beat cream cheese and one cup of sugar on medium until fluffy

  • Beat ¼ cup flour and 2 tsp of vanilla extract

  • While mixing ingredients- on low speed- add in eggs one at a time

  • Add sour cream to mixture

  • Mix all ingredients together on low

  • Add cheesecake mixture to crust

  • Bake for 1 hour

  • Cool for 2 hours

  • Refrigerate overnight before serving

This recipe has been in our family four decades. My grandmother made it with my aunt on Christmas Eve when she was growing up. I now make it with my grandmother for the holidays, and my aunt has continued to carry on the tradition with her kids as well.
