Q: What program is used for the QR codes? How do they help?
A: Microsoft Forms is the program used for the QR code readings and the seating at lunch. When the code is scanned it places the student’s name into an excel sheet.
Q: When do students scan the codes?
A: Homeroom and lunch for students. Sports teams use this as well.
Q: When were they implemented?
A: The cafeteria started the QR codes at the very beginning of the year to aid with the safety protocol regarding coronavirus. In the cafeteria this process is necessary for contact tracing and has had to be used on multiple occasions. Additionally, this was the least intrusive method as the students are still allowed to choose their seats.
Q: Mrs. Iannucci thought that the codes were helpful with attendance. Is that correct? Can you explain why these QR codes necessary?
A: They make sure you know who is in the building. For safety purposes it is important that we know who is here on a given school day and who has decided to stay home. If there a situation, like a fire drill, administration must know whom they must account for. They also help determined how many kids are in homeroom as well as the cafeteria.
Q: Could you explain the system and how it works in conjunction with Skyward?
A: It doesn’t work with Skyward at all. The kids scan the QR codes, and it becomes an Excel sheet. The attendance office gets a better idea from these excel sheets; they do not coincide with skyward. Before this they could not see who was virtual and who was there in person.
Q: Do you believe these codes will help prolong the school remaining in hybrid mode?
A: They’re a good tool but they have no effect on whether there is an outbreak or not—they aid with tracing, but they have no bearing.

Lunch:
Name, lunch (ABC) and seat in the cafeteria.
Homeroom:
Name, Homeroom teacher, Hybrid A or B, Grade
