By Rachel Beblo Major cities in the United States such as San Francisco and New York City were supposed to celebrate their 50th anniversary of LGBTQ+ Pride; however, due to COVID-19, many are postponed or even canceled. Worldwide over 300 prides have been affected by this pandemic, and due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, rescheduling is a challenge. Some cities are going virtual as a way to safely celebrate pride and bring people together during these tough times. Pride Month is a time of strength and resilience that unites millions of people and without it many people will feel lost. According to the Interpride website, a global virtual pride is expected to kick off on June 27 and last 24 hours. It will include musical performances, speeches, and messages from human rights activists. Pride organizations in Europe, America, Canada, Southern Africa, and other nations are collaborating to make this happen. More information will be released the closer we get to the date.
