Staying in Shape During Quarantine

By Jake Snyder and Matt Curtis

For people everywhere, it is very important to stay in shape at home during these times of quarantine.  Whether you have your own home gym, limited workout equipment, or nothing at all, here are some ways you can stay physically fit and in a great state of mind.

Bodyweight exercises, or calisthenics, are great because anyone can do them.  You obviously have your pushups, squats, planks, and calf raises, but thanks to the internet there are thousands upon thousands of awesome workouts you can do at home without any equipment. You can learn more about bodyweight exercises by watching video walkthroughs on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter, or by reading articles online.

Running is always a great thing to do and is also an excuse to get out of the house.  It can serve as a great warmup or cool down for bodyweight workouts, or you can make it a daily routine for cardio strengthening.

Of course, some people are lucky enough to have their own at-home gym, but you don’t need much to stay in shape. Even a few pieces of equipment broaden the range of workouts you’ll be able to complete. You may even have some objects lying around the house you can turn into workout equipment. Grab a few paint cans and do a few sets of bicep curls! Similar to bodyweight exercises, there are tons of weightlifting resources and workouts online.

Here are some good websites and YouTube channels that have workouts, and these are just a small sample of the resources you can find on your own.
